North First Avenue Bridge over BNSF Railroad Project

The North First Avenue Bridge over BNSF Railroad removed the existing bridge, considered Structurally Deficient (SD), and constructed new approach roadways and a new two-lane structure. Marisa Greenway, as Community Liaison Lead, developed a fact sheet, construction alert template, and project information postcard. We went through an ascertainment for the project database and managed/coordinated all aspects of the project groundbreaking event in January 2023. We partnered with the Barstow Unified School District to ensure their students and staff were receiving all project updates. Additional public outreach services included groundbreaking event management, ribbon cutting event management, public meetings, website development, social media, email communications, media outreach, developing and managing the Project Hotline, project database, media database, collateral development (English and Spanish), project updates and reporting to SBCTA and city’s executive team and staff.
